My Journey over the past 20 years
I've spent over 20 years in IT, building a strong technical background in network administration, IT infrastructure, and security. I've always preferred open-source technologies and avoided vendor lock-in, which gave me the freedom to explore, experiment, and grow. I am entirely self-taught, continuously learning and building my knowledge through hands-on experience, development, and exploration.
Beyond my technical foundation, I enjoy designing, building, and developing systems that make work more efficient, not only for myself but also for the teams and organisations I support. I value tools that expand what I can create, giving me creative freedom without limitations and helping me turn ideas into practical solutions. Problem solving has always been central to my approach, whether through technology, streamlined processes, or innovative methods.
Discovering Airtable
In 2018, I started using Airtable for asset management. The mobile app allowed me to scan assets and quickly update records. What began as a simple solution grew into something much bigger. I soon found myself using Airtable daily, creating thousands of apps and integrations that ranged from simple to highly complex. Airtable wasn't just loved by me, but also by everyone who used it.
Learning to Code
By 2021, I wanted to build a more complex integration with Airtable that required JavaScript. At that time, I had no experience with it, but I decided it was worth learning. This decision opened up a new world. I started with JavaScript and soon moved on to the Nuxt.js framework. These skills allowed me to take my Airtable integrations to a much higher level and gave me the ability to create smarter, more dynamic systems.
Embracing AI
In 2024, I decided to explore AI to see if it could make me more productive. I didn't realize at the time how much it would change my life. With AI, I was able to build complex applications that integrated with Airtable and other systems in ways I never thought possible. Today, AI plays a very important role in my daily life. It allows me to create solutions that once would have taken me years to learn and build on my own.
Web Development
To gain more real-world experience, I reached out to my employer at the time, a school that had struggled with developers and a broken website. Their site was full of issues that no one had been able to fix. I asked them to give me a chance to prove it could be done. In September 2024, my first commercial website went live, and it is still running today. Since then, I've created three more websites, all of which remain active today.
Assisting Small Businesses and SEO
In 2025, I expanded my experience by working with small businesses. I completed three websites and decided to learn SEO and Google My Business. This step allowed me not only to build websites but also to gain valuable experience while helping businesses improve their online presence and visibility.
Looking Ahead
Every step in my journey, from open-source systems, to Airtable, to modern frameworks, and now AI, has built on the one before it. These tools have not only reshaped how I work, but also how I see what's possible. What began as a simple asset management app has completely transformed my career in a unique way. For me, the possibilities now feel limitless, and I'm only just getting started. I look forward to seeing how my career will continue to evolve.
